Baltic Grey Limestone from Eklandstone

Well, just exactly what is Baltic Grey limestone? Let us explain a little…

There is a 1200 km long rock bed of Baltic Grey limestone that starts in Sweden under the Island of Öland and runs under the Baltic Sea and ends in Russia near Lake Ladoga east of St. Petersburg. This rock bed only reaches the earth’s surface on the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea where it is quarried to make tiles, kitchen worktops, steps, window sills and fireplaces.

At Eklandstone we use the highest quality quarried blocks to cut the tiles ranging in size from 1000 x 1000 mm down to 100 x 100 mm. We also offer different surface finishes including polished, honed and antique.

Our Baltic Grey limestone is regularly being specified by leading architects and interior designers in Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki and London.

Baltic Grey limestone is popular with architects and designers because of its many fossils that make it so interesting, its light grey colour and its extreme hardness when compared to other limestone.

As you will see from our website, we also offer two other types of grey limestone quarried in the Baltic Region: Tundra Grey and Bothnia Grey. Please contact our friendly staff if you have any questions about these stones!
